You have reached the home page for my Appalachian Trail hiking adventure. On this page, I will be posting all of my journal entries and photos from the trail. Although the actual starting date has not been set - I'm waiting to see if the weather is going to settle down, my goal is to be on the trail by about March 17th. Weather wise, in the last several weeks, the trail, from about Virginia northward has been inundated with unprecedented quantities of snow. And although this may not affect the starting point in Georgia, it won't take many days to reach Virginia and beyond. Whatever preparation I still have to make, if the information is of value, I'll post it here.

• The kind folks at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy have produced an Interactive Map of the Appalachian Trail. Once the map has been opened, you can zoom in and out on the map to get a feel for the landscape that the trail wanders through.
• Get involved - become a member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Your participation will help with the tremendous workload of maintaining the network of trails.
